Being 39 I still want to be young, hip and trendy, I don't want to make myself look older with clothes that I wear. In fact I tend to dress younger than my daughter on nights out and she's 22.
Being a little bigger than most women it can be hard to find a store which caters for fuller figures yet offers fashionable clothing at the same time. However I find Evans does provide this for me and probably for many other women also.
I have been in a few stores in different areas, yet I find all their stores to be well laid out with smart/casual set apart from nightwear and day wear again in it's own section. They also sell shoes, costume jewellery and even underwear. I do find them to be pricey which is a bit unfortunate but I personally feel their clothes are a very high quality compared to some clothing stores you can shop in. Their stores seem to be a fair size, even the smaller ones. Offering a number of comfortable changing rooms too as theres nothing worse than getting home with an outfit and having to take it back as it clings to the hips a little too much.
Staff I have found to be friendly and helpful, yet not pouncing on you as soon as you walk into the shop to find out what you are after. They do allow you to actually have a browse whilst their security procedures of keeping an eye on you are kept strictly in place. I have also noticed that staff don't all wear a specific unifom, instead they tend to wear clothes which they have actually purchased from the store itself. A brilliant way to advertise their stores clothing, it has been no end of times I have commented on peoples outfits or tops and asked where they have got them from, with their reply being "Oh, here!", and then of course finding out they do get staff discount which I believe is deserved most of the time.
You can take out an Evans card if you are eligible, of course after signing your life away in forms and undergoing a credit check. I havn't actually got one and don't intend to as I don't want to face the embarassment of being refused. Embarassing? Well yes it is embarassing I'd say as instead of being taken to a corner out of the way to apply for your card you do it whilst in the queue, which means open ears in the line behind you can hear everything - even your declined message. That is probably the only fault I personally find with the store - but this seems to happen in many stores. Maybe this could be changed in the future, they may have more people apply for a card and earn more commission on these if it's done with a little more privacy for customers.
Apart from this I find the store does listen to customers needs with their staff, the clothing they actually sell which is usually of a high standard.
They often have sales in place, which are not hard to miss as they have their 'sale rails' with large orange signs on them providing you with the price of whats on each rail. The £5 rail, £10 rail and £15 rail usually. Don't get me wrong I love a bargain but sale rails to me end up messy and I'm too lazy to sift through messy clothes which have no order as in sizes or colours. My loss though ay, as it's me losing out on those bargain outfits.
If anybody was to ask me would I reccomend this store then yes I would of course for people from clothes size 14 upwards. It's not a store that makes you feel uncomfortable as you are bigger than others as it's a store which is aimed at women like ourselves.
You can also shop online with Evans but I havn't done this so I can't really comment on service and so on but the store is must.
Summary: a lovely store for the fuller figured woman
