Advantages: Big range

Disadvantages: 1 length dresses that make short people look like tents

Im a generous size 20 and generally find it hard to find nice, flattering clothes in regular high street shops or even find something in my size. Evans sell size 14-32 clothes, wide fitting shoes, underwear and jewellery for the curvy woman.

Although the clothes are designed for curvy women, i think its more like taller women like most shops. Im 5'5.. a pretty average height for a woman and i find in most stores clothes are made too long for me, especially dresses and skirts. Evans is no exception to this. Recently ive been shopping for a dress for a friends birthday night out...and im still without one. I ordered a couple from evans online and tried on a couple in the shop. All of them came down to my calves. Now i know i could have them taken up, but evans isnt exactly cheap and i dont want to end up spending £70 on a dress.

I think Evans is generally over priced for what they sell compared to other stores e.g. Dorothy Perkins or New Look. Im only 23 and dont want to be spending a fortune on clothes just because im larger. The quality of clothes dont seem much better than anywhere else and spending £35 on a going out top compared to £20 anywhere else seems over the top.

If you're after basics, e.g. summer t shirts or basic jumpers in winter you cant go wrong. They have flattering cuts but wont make you look anything other than boring, but you cant complain at the price of these. Even jewellery, shoes and bras seem over priced.

Shop on the website and you might get a good deal. They often have good offers on. Last week summer dresses were 20% off so you just have to keep looking. Good thing is you can take anything bought online back to your nearest shop so if things dont fit its not a huge deal.

The staff in my local Evans are friendly, helped by the fact i work in the same shopping center and are always willing to help.

Bring in different length skirts and dresses, be a bit more competitive with prices and Evans would get 2 thumbs up from me. Until then, ill still shop around and dig through rails of clothes to find a decent size somewhere else. In times of recession we all want to spend less...for me this means not shopping at Evans.

Summary: Some good, some bad...not 100% sold on Evans
