Advantages: Good size range in clothes and shoes
Disadvantages: Younger style tastes in clothing, large size waists on trousers
I used to be a big fan of the evans shop, but recently the wind has changed and its hard to put my finger on why. My nearest store in Stafford seems strangely bare - blank walls that provide a cold experience of a temproary shop whilst your in there.
So OK this isn't the end of the world but the clothes have changed too. And this could be me - maybe I'm not keeping up to date with fashions, but there now seems a more definite trend to the younger shopper with more jeans and t-shirts printed with all manner of things on them and more bold patterned items. The store I feel doesn't do justice to the range Evans has in total, in which case this is a store stocking issue.
Evans do also produce a small catalogue and their entire range is available to view on line. But for me this just re-iterates the younger taste preferences.
Size wise - particularly with trousers / skirts i have found there to be a one size difference between Marks and Spencer and Evans (with Evans being the larger size). Trousers I would recommend visiting stores to try as they seem to create trousers with disproportionately large waists for the size, this for me has been a constant battle with the store. This was never the case 10-15 years ago.
Alot of what Evans has to offer you never see, if you have their gold store card you can get 10% off all shoes and can also have hem adjustments to trousers etc.
Their stock does cover sizes 14-32 which the website advises on the home page. They also stock larger sized shoes upto size 10.
Summary: For me its not the store it was - but that could just be me

- 21/06/09 I wanna know what's with their necklines on some tops in recent years - just coz I'm a larger size doesn't mean my head is twice the size. (Excellent review btw). |
