Advantages: Huge Ranges

Disadvantages: Expensive

Evans are part of the Arcadia Group that also own high street chains such as Dorothy Perkins, Burtons and Topshop.

Evans once used to be a store that lacked appealing fashionable clothes for larger ladies of all ages but over the past few years this has changed dramatically. They have lowered their sizing from a 16 to a 14 and the store has been brought bang up to date.

They also have an online store that stocks many more items than the highstreet shops do. Standard delivery costs £4 and Express Delivery £5. If you are unhappy with your purchase you can return them to your local store rather than returning via mail.

Over the last year Evans has seen the likes of Beth Ditto releasing her own clothing line like Kate Moss has done with TopShop.

They stock wide range of items including jewellery, bags, belts, lingerie, wide fitting shoes and boots, coats and clothing. Now, their clothing are not cheap by any means - with a glitzy top setting you back a whopping £38 plus.

They do hold regular sales throughout the year which are usually half price or less so you are guaranteed to grab yourself a bargain or two. A majority of the sale items now tend to be in a size 14 - I think this is because not a lot of people are aware that Evans cater for that size or they think that Evans is not really a trendy shop. I managed to pick myself up a gorgeous purple mac that was originally £55 for £15 and a £25 cardigan for £5.

Evans also offer customers the option of signing up for an Evans Essentials Card which allows you to purchase goods like any other store card. You are sent regular mailings in the post with exclusive offers and special opening evenings. New card holders receive a £5 reward voucher in their first statement and double points on purchases for the first three months. You receive 1 point per pound spent in store and once you have 500 points you change exchange this for a £5 voucher. I admit this is not a great return on a £500 spend but is a good extra if you shop there anyway. Also, if the store does not have an item in your size they will deliver it to you for free when you purchase on your Essentials card.

I would definately say that Evans is well worth a visit when you are next in town - they are not what they used to be and that is a good thing!
