Being a lady that is of the larger proportioned variety I have shopped in Evans on many, many occassions, and although I can only comment on the branch in Ipswich, I feel I can still comment. As little as six years ago the only decent thing you could buy from Evans was something to go camping in, but my oh my have they changed. Proper fashion for big women is now fully expected in the high street, and with 47% of us being a size 16 or over we have long been relegated to tents with elastic in them, but fear not times are changing. Evans can now boast a range of clothing that isn't just for the over fifties - and before you comment I am not ageist, just youngish and would like to dress that way. Leggings are out and sleek new designs are in, and although you can still buy leggings, it is nice to have a wider range of choice, and this is exactly what Evans new look stores give us. From casual to dressy their range is now huge, and the quality is improving drastically. The range that has been designed by Dawn French's shop 1647 is gorgeous, and they have a great range of casual clothes at what are very decent prices; although I will say that big women and men still pay a much higher price for clothes than our sleeker counterparts. The staff are always on hand to help out and it is obvious that also where the stores range, which makes it nice to be able to see the clothes on proper people, because the models in the catalogues, even at Evans, never seem to be any bigger than a 16. The website of the company is easy to navigate and has good piccies of the items you want to buy along with some cracking offers for website customers only. Stores for BIG people still have a way to go to match the fashion shops of the fat restricted people, but they are getting there, and a revolution is imminent.

- 16/06/01 they do start at a 14 in some clothes but i must agree with the modle thing, my mum buys thier clothes and looking through the catalogue i nticed they all seemed to be on the 'thin' side, ah well even a 'fat shop' can't avoid society's steryotype of beauty |
