Boring, Boring Boring!! (Evans)

Advantages: well at least they stock large clothes Disadvantages: over priced and dul
I think us larger women are supposed to be pathetically grateful that anyone makes clothes our size. Well I'm not. I'm angry that the stuff that is churned out is dull, boring, matronly, created in inferior fabrics and grossly overpriced. Evans is one of the worst culprits. Why on earth does it make most of its clothes in that disgusting polyester/Crimplene stuff that should have been discarded by the mid 1970s? Why doesn't it use the same fabrics as Next or M&S or Miss Selfridge for larger clothes? It is, after all, supposed to be a specialist store, but seems to have very little understanding of the needs of bigger women, or indeed what flatters the larger figure. Jackets, for example, often look better if they have a very low neckline with a smooth collar - like a shawl collar or no collar. So why have almost all the jackets in this store for the past 2 years had shirt-type collars? These just emphasise things like double chins, and heavy busts. Another thing - large ladies are large in different places. Seems obvious to me, but not to Evans. I for example have a teensy waist but large hips - so I need a different style from those with big tummies but trim legs. Evans, however, seems to think we all need voluminous tops and tighter skirts. I could rant on, but you get the idea. Smart, trendy clothes in quality fabrics - it really doesn't seem too much to ask. Summary: |
