Advantages: Good value for money, many brand names in stock

Disadvantages: Not very attractively laid out, staff can be a bit surly, stock changes very quickly

I feel I have to write something about Farm Foods as many people I know are unaware of it's existence, even though we have a large store in town.

I love this shop! So it doesn't have the selection of larger supermarkets, and some of the members of staff look and act like they've been let out on day release from the local nick! What it does have is excellent prices on a good range of foods, especially frozen staples such as fish fingers and frozen chips. My husband loves Birdseye Chicken Lattices, and they're about half the price in here than you'd pay at any larger more well-known supermarkets.

They often have some great offers on baby food as well; when my son was being weaned I picked up some Heinz "Mum's Own" tubs for 10p each, about a tenth of the cost they were in Tesco. My local store in Stockton-on-Tees has a great range of biscuits and snack foods, with many brand names, including Thorntons, Cadbury and Nestle. They also have a good selection of toiletries and cleaning products; the baby wipes they sell in here are fantastic; very moist with a pleasant fragrance. I always stock up on toothpaste when we visit Farm Foods; last time I went in a couple of weeks back they were selling tubes of Colgate toothpaste for 50p! The handwash they sell is also fantastic; cheap and cheerful but smells lovely!

Be aware that sometimes certain items in this shop can work out to be more expensive than they are in the larger supermarkets; for example if Asda has an offer on a certain item it will obviously be cheaper. Also don't expect to find the same items in stock week after week; they seem to acquire a large amount of something then sell it off very fast.

Summary: Fantastic shop for stocking up your freezer and biscuit tin!
