Take a walk up Fishergate, the main thoroughfare and town centre of Preston in Lancashire, and you'd be very hard pressed to identify exactly where you are unless you already knew. This could be literally any town anywhere in England and it's virtually impossible to distinguish from a million other places - it could be Hanley in the Potteries, or Manchester, or Birmingham, or Leeds. Now that's not a criticism of Preston, or indeed any of the other places, more just an observation about an increasing level of homogeneity in all things in this New Millennium, whether it be shopping centres, or cars, or indoor malls, or cinemas, or car parks, a sad indictment ...

In this wonderful state-of-the-art shopping mall, you can shop for fashion or bargain hunt. There are two of Britains leading Catalogue Stores, a video games store, an electrical hardware store, gift shops, and a couple of nice restaurants to relax after a nice hard shop… All under one roof. Whenever I shop for Christmas or Birthdays, any age range, this is the first place I hunt, I can guarantee that I’ll be-able to find something suitable. To name a few well known shops located within the Fishergate Centre, there is a 3 story Deborhams, Dixons, Game, Argos, Index, Littlewoods and TK Maxx. Located on the ‘edge’ of Preston Town ...
