Advantages: GREAT STORE, GREAT CHOICE, GREAT KNOWLEDGE

Disadvantages: NOT AS COMPETITIVE IN PRICE I GUESS

I am not a gaming connoisseur, I have absolutely no idea what the more specialist games are like, but what I do know is that playing the games on various platforms such as the wii, the xbox, the Nintendo ds plus all the others is a lot of fun.

I do know that you need a good gaming store where you can purchase the games of your choice and that are relevant to the platform that you have, and Game is it.

Both offline and online, there store is like a sweet shop for the gaming fan, expert and novice. I have personal experience of various Game stores, and in each one the staff are extremely enthusiastic about what the store has to offer, they have always answered my questions to the fullest and I swear they get to take the games home to play, as they seem to know so much about them, sometimes a bit to much (they need to get out more).

***WHAT THE STORE SELLS***

The store sells all games consoles, games and accessories, they sell all platforms such as gameboy advance, game cube, pc games, play stations 2 and 3, psp, xbox, xbox 360 and the wii.

They have a whole variation of games for each of the consoles, ranging from fantasy, sport, general fun, action, adventure, driving, puzzle, strategy etc, I guarantee that if you go into the store or look online you will find a game that appeals to you.

You can buy accessories for your gaming consoles, for instance for the wii you can purchase wii remotes, nun chucks, sd card, wii wheel, wii fit balance board, microphone, the list goes on, and the same applies for all the other consoles, there are accessories that apply to each one.

You can also purchase console bundles whereby you get the console itself plus games for a reduced price, for example you can get a Nintendo ds lite with high school musical 3 game and an accessory pack for £11.98 less. The same applies to all the other consoles, they always offer some kind of deal, this is good at Christmas or birthday times when you have to buy some games as well as the console.

Game also sell pre-owned games, these are games that people have finished playing with and no longer want, they sell them back to game, who in return give the seller either cash, gift card or you can swap there and then for another game etc, the cash alternative is generally less than what you would get if it were a gift card, so I tend to go for the gift card option, I traded in some old ds games and a wii game and got £47 for them.

***PRICES***

I read that others think that Game is not a competitive store when it comes to pricing, it cannot be as competitive as places like Tesco etc and online stores (who do not have shops) as gaming is there sole business, Game do have deals going on, you just need to look for them, you could always buy preowned games, the general rue of these being that they have to be in working order, in the original packaging and with the manual, these still are under a 28 day return guarantee, so you still have your rights. They have deals on this games where you can get 3 for £10, 3 for £20 etc, prices for these are as low as 4.99 but this all depends on the console you have and the game needed.
I actually find there prices fairly reasonably, you have a lot more choice and you are not limited in your selection, and also you can always trade them in when you have finished playing them and get some of your money back.

You can buy new games for as little as £9.99 (maybe slightly more or less) and for as much as £44.99 (give or take), you don't always have to have the latest game straight away, you could always wait a bit for the chance that it might go down in price. Obviously the prices vary depending on the console that you have.

The prices for consoles vary as well, you can buy a Nintendo wii with a Mario kart game for £179.99 online, in Tesco for a similar bundle it would be about £10 or £20 less maybe (please don't quote me on this-it is not exact) but I personally like the knowledge that Game staff have, if I need to ask a question about the game or console beforehand they can answer it, whereas I find that there is no one to ask in supermarkets.

I have always purchased mine from game and I have had in the past a psp, an xbox, a play station 2, now I have a wii and a Nintendo ds for my daughter, you get so much use out of them that you do get your moneys worth. As I have said, when a console or game comes out, you do not have to get it straight away, wait a while and they will have deals for bundles, or just reduce the price, its like with most things in life, games manufacturers are always coming up with new platforms that eventually the older ones go down in price, you do not have to have a playstation 3, a playstation 2 is fine, you can still get the games even if you decide to look elsewhere for them.

***REWARDS***

As with most stores, game offers a reward card, there is a one off charge of £3, it is available in the UK and the ROI, with this card you can earn points worth 2.5% of your order value, and double points on software pre-orders, they often have bonus points promotions and you can redeem them online and in store.
I don't know the exact workings out of the points value in terms of money but I have 1,013 which they have converted into £2.53 in cash, which isn't a lot but every little bit helps.
Another kind of reward, is that if you order online you get free uk delivery on everything, this might be worth doing to save on petrol costs if you had far to travel.

***SUMMARY***

I like this store, I like the staff, I like the knowledge that they possess, I know its not as competitively priced, but sometimes having the wider selection and the knowledge is worth paying the little bit extra for.
I have never had a problem with any of the staff, and they have always been willing to help and advise. This is a great store.

Summary: GREAT STORE

I always find Game to be hideously overpriced, so never shop there.

Ah sorry, I misread what you said, I thought you was saying you had to get £200 every time. Sorry about that.

Yes Jamie - but you have to spend over £200 to make any money given you have had to hand over £3 for the card in the first place surely?
