Advantages: Great shop, lots of video games!, normally helpful staff
Disadvantages: Can be a bit expensive, busy
GAME is a big high street store that surprisingly sells video games and consoles and anything else video game related. There are lots of GAME stores about and most high streets or shopping centres I have been to have at least one GAME store! When I went to France I also saw a GAME store so they must be scattered about Europe as well but I think there main base is the UK. GAME stores are easy to recognise due to the purple sign with GAME written on it in white letters!
Near the front of most GAME stores are adverts for the latest and greatest games which can actually be quite useful as it shows you the latest new games and can keep you up to date.
The stores are normally quite neat and are in different sections so you can find what you want. For example there will be an Xbox 360 section, Nintendo Wii, PSP, Playstation 3 and 2, Nintendo Ds and a few other things. They also sell a few High Definiton films some which are HD and some Blu-ray. As you can see they sell anything you could really want for video games (unless you like retro gaming!)
Game also sells preowned games which they buy of people. If you want to trade in a game you can either get vouchers or money (but you get a lot less if you choose money!) It`s is quite a good service but it is annoying to see the game you traded in for £5.00 is selling for £9.00 in store and you had to get store credit to get that £5.00 which is worth even less to them!
They also sell accessories like headsets, controllers, cameras and much more. For the Xbox 360 they also sell things like Microsoft points and gold subscriptions (if you are interested I have reviewed both of these products!)
The staff in the stores are quite good and most of them know what they are talking about and try to help you.
One bad thing about Game is that they are quite expensive for most items and you can find some things are a lot cheaper online. Game also have an online website which I have also reviewed called Game.co.uk (I have reviewed a hell of a lot!) Another downside is the shops are usually quite busy and you can queue for a while if you go at a busy time.
Overall Game is a good store for your gaming needs but can be a little expensive at times.
4/5
Summary: Great shop

- 12/09/09 I wouldn't let seeing the game more you traded in being sold more expensively annoy you, because yea £5 credit, or £3.50 cash, well it is around 200% markup. But to be fair, most video games Game buys at the size they are wil be marekd up at 200%, The buy off you service they offer is great, because if it is a legit UK game they never refuse it. Imagine selling it yourself to get nearly £9 you might have to list it on ebay a few times, then you have sales commision on ebay then you have to post, then you have spent over 1-2 hoursof your time working on selling it and posting it. you'd actually end up with less than £5 usable cash after all the time you spent.
Otherwise a great review |
