Advantages: Excellent customer service, A huge pre-owned catalogue of past games at good prices.
Disadvantages: Overpriced in-store and online, No discounts, Overpriced bundles
Gamestation are a UK retailer of video game software and hardware with stores throughout the UK and an online presence. I have mixed feelings about this chain, detailed below.
-- Prices --
In my experience, Gamestation tend to offer everything at the RRP, for example a new game could cost between £39.99 and £44.99 depending on the platform, which doesn't really give great value for money. They also never seem to have any worthwhile discounts either when compared to rival gaming stores that offer better value.
Their website gamestation.co.uk is no different. All prices given are around the RRP, when compared to GAME who offer many discounts looks quite weak. Gamestation do offer very low prices for pre-owned versions of games, especially their retro collection.
Their special offers are not so special, as lower prices can be found on most big retailer websites. They also offer a range of gaming related clothing which is reasonably priced and offers items i'd consider purchasing.
-- Customer Service --
This is a great aspect of Gamestation. The customer service in-store is second to none, they are very helpful and friendly people who always want to try and save you money (i.e. offering you a pre-owned version of a game for less) which is very helpful to those trying to save money.
Overall, I would not recommend using Gamestation. There are several cheaper alternatives available (Game, Gameplay etc) that offer lower prices and have better promotional offers and discounts that will save you money.
Summary: Too pricey in most aspects, better value retailers to be found.
