Advantages: Good for some basics

Disadvantages: Bad for fashion orientated good quality clothing

After working for Gap for the past year I have been driven to extreme frustration by the way the brand just does not seem to be able to keep up to date with the market it seems to aiming at.

The clothes have the potential to be perfect, yet always have one design flaw that just leaves them looking bad. Dresses are almost always too boxy, skirts too long or too boxy again, and the same with most tops. The jeans always stretch to twice the size they originally are and most of the cotton t shirts lose their shape quite quickly.

Coupled with this the quality of many of the clothe is not good considering the price tag. Gap does err on the more expensive side of thing and is not competitive in its pricing.

On the plus side the nightwear is brilliant and comfy and menswear has good, practical basics and the merino wool jumpers are always to die for!

Gap as a brand always seems just behind and just off the mark compared to its competitors. The sizing of the garments varies a great deal between different items, however they do cater for petite sizes and do go down to a British size 2. However they do tend to think, especially with the trousers, that everyone is over 5ft 8. A big problem for many people.

All in all, the brand can sometimes deliver little gems, like stripy tshirts that are always a good buy for a wardrobe, and good nightwear. However it is a limited shop, ranges are small and it never feels on trend.

Summary: Not a place at the top of my list for high street shopping

yea in some of the clothes they do, which is good for those people who are actually naturally a size 2, but bad for people moaning at us that we encourage anorexics :/
