Advantages: Some bargains, good to get rid of stuff, recyling and lots to choose from

Disadvantages: Can be smelly, some clothes is dirty, shops are run down

Where I live, we have many charity shops, which I often visit. Charity shops are great for everything.

Donating items.

I have donated unwanted items and clothes to charity shops when cleaning and de-cluttering the house. They are easy to donate to just fill up a bag of box then pop into the shop to offer them the items you have. Most charity shops are very grateful for donations although my local one has stopped taking books because they have so many and nowhere to store them. I have donated to charity shops through roadside collections but I am a little wary of this as member of the public could take the bags or someone else could collect them so they may not get to the right place.

Buying

I have bought some amazing items for the charity shops for clothes, books, furniture through to the best barging which was last year when I bought a sylvanian family house which was used but has the box for £15 the rrp is over £100 and it was in excellent condition. I find children's clothes over priced. I have seen many items, which only cost a few quid new in primark for sale for more than they cost new. I think the people in the shops that price the items have a very difficult job to do as they need so much knowledge to get the prices right.

Staff

The staffs in the shop near me tend to be retired women who are extremely friendly but a little slow at serving customers. People need to be patient and bare in mind the people working in the shops are often volunteers that are not paid for the time the put in or the work they do.

The stores

The stores are generally in need of a little TLC but again I expect they pay very little so they cannot complain. They are often in locations, which are further from the main shopping street. The stores vary from store to store.

Advantages

There are some amazing bargains to be had in charity shops. By donating, volunteering or buying from charity shops you are helping good cause raise money. It is also a great way to recycle by putting unwanted items into a shop so others can give them a god home.

Disadvantage

Some of the shops are badly organised, understaffed, and smelly and need a bit of a revamp. It can be time consuming finding what you are looking for and the prices are not always accurate. Some of the items for sale are gross!

Overall give charity shops a go any support at all will help them and the causes they are raising money for. It is worth spending the time looking around as you might find something you want or a bargain. If you do not want to shop in them donate items to them it is for a good cause.

Summary: Support you local charity shops, buy, donate or help out!
