H&M

After finding myself pregnant and realising I was going to have to put all my fantastic size 10 clothes to the back of the wardrobe and live in unsightly oversized smocks for the best part of seven months I was somewhat upset.

After having a look in the Next catalogue and finding their range of maternity wear disappointing to say the least I was determined I would find cheap affordable maternity wear that actually looked good even if it killed me. I had purchased a few items from Next but not wanting to overspend on clothes that I am hopefully not going to be wearing for a long while after this pregnancy I was limited due to the fact next maternity wear really did seem to be rather expensive.

The next stop was to Mothercare where I found a very disappointing range of very unflattering clothing. I asked the counter staff why they had hardly any choice and was told that they have a more extensive range online. So off I trotted back home to search the web only to find Mothercare being out of stock of a lot of the clothes that I was interested in. Still the prices were al little high and I wanted to try these things on before ordering and am not a big fan of ordering clothing over the Internet. After trips into local stores to find either no maternity sections or very, very limited sections with either over priced or over weird clothing I was starting to run out of ideas.

H&M have recently opened a new store in my area and having not been into it decided to have a look and to my absolute amazement I was confronted with a vast range of maternity wear amongst the large selection of children’s clothing which was housed upstairs (lift available for mothers with prams). The clothing seemed to be right up my street. It was all priced at a reasonable amount and there was quite a bit to choose from and a lot of different styles.

I was so pleased that I hastily purchased several outfits that would last me through my pregnancy and I didn’t even spend over £100. With the trousers that have a large elasticised waist and tops with extra stretch I was in pregnancy heaven. The sizes are good as well ranging from normal sizes i.e. 10 and 12 and catering for the larger 16 to 18 pregnant ladies. (You have to buy your normal size before pregnancy as the sizes have been altered accordingly).

I have been back several times since and have managed to pick up a couple of really good bargains. The staff is exceptionally helpful and when I couldn’t find the trousers of my size they left and went to get some from the store. I have been living in these clothes for months now and they are really lasting me well considering there complete reasonable price.

The store itself is very clean and tidy with a light, airy atmosphere that makes it a real pleasure to shop there. The kid’s range of clothing is also very good and prices are set at such a good affordable rate that anyone would be happy shopping there. I noticed that walking through the everyday women’s clothing that they also do a larger range for the bigger lady that I believe goes up to a size 26. This is brilliant because as far as I know there are not many shops that do offer this range. The clothes all seem to be of a high standard.

Both the changing rooms and the tills are easily accessed and what with the lift and stairs up to the first floor I have no complains with the store itself in the least. All the staff are friendly and all seem happy to be working there so no complaints there either.

I did have to take one item back for an exchange as I had picked up the wrong size and this too was no trouble at all. I was able to return and exchange without any problems or any funny looks from the cashier as I usually get in some places.

I cant wait to loose my baby weight so I can go into H&M and shop in the normal section of clothes as there does seem to be a wide range of modern and affordable clothing for all types of people. I think this store truly is great and I am glad one has opened so close to me. I believe these stores are scattered widely across the country and I am sure most of you have seen or shopped in there. But it was exceptionally handy for the maternity range so if you are pregnant I would say make a stop off in this store and I am sure you will find something to live in for 9 months!!!

Summary: a great store
