I have just got engaged and so the following opinion is based on personal experience at one of the most stressful times of my life so far, namely choosing an engagement ring. I went to the local shopping centre to have a look for rings, knowing vaguely what I wanted. I decided to go into every jewelry shop in the centre to see what they had. I had heard bad reports about H Samuel in the past but I thought I would try them out for myself. Working in IT I had come straight from work and so I was wearing jeans, T-shirt and was unshaven, usual IT person I hear you say. I walked into the place and after five minutes of watching the assistants having a chat amongst themselves, I asked them for a bit of help. I told them the kind of ring I wanted, and they proceeded to show me some rings. The rings were nice but I had a little bit more to spend then the rings they were showing me and told them so. All of a sudden their attitude changed. Before they had basically just been saying here you go have a look and carried on chatting. All of a sudden it was Sir this and Sir that and they were falling over themselves trying to help me. To me it shouldn?t matter if I had been buying the Hope Diamond or a £10 ring the customer service should be exactly the same, hopefully good both times!
Although I will not be buying another engagement ring I will not be using the store again.
To keep you all posted, I ended up buying a ring from Goldsmiths and the sales care was superb. More to the point my fiancée loved the ring!
