HMV is a UK music and video store chain that has been around for quite some time now, monopolizing the media shop market. Whilst the average prices for the products it sells are extremely low, its worth noting that the in-store range of items is absolutely atrocious. Specific sections other than charts generally contain nothing of interest to anyone, and the few recondite items that HMV does sell are always ludicrously overpriced. The shop sells T-shirt and poster merchandise for the most popular bands. There's absolutely nothing here that you couldn't get for cheaper online anyway, even the HMV website itself offers better deals. The shopping experience ... Read the complete review

At HMV you can find Dvds, video games and music cds mostly but other items including accessories for electronic stuff can be found on sale available to. Most of their stores have a security guard standing at front to protect the store from theft and they have a wide number of cameras in the store to watch everybody. The Dvd sections are sorted by type of movie and the same applies for ... Read the complete review

I think HMV is still good for buying the odd cut orice dvd. Altoguh I remeber when it used to be much better. I started shopping in HMV about 14 years ago, before they had one in absolutely every town in the UK. Back then it was great to get to a HMV because they specialised in providing a good variety of music in all formats. It was also good to use as a student because they gave a 10% discount. Although in recent years since they have become more of a monopoly I have found that they no longer have the niche on music and the service in stores is not as consistent as it once was. Last time I was in a HMV I made my purchase as quickly as I could and got ... Read the complete review

I just realised that there is a seperate product for the online HMV reviews, but I've kind of mixed them both together here - sorry! As a big film and music fan, although I try not to (!), I do find myself constantly drawn to online music shops and drooling over my wish lists! And HMV is among one of my favourite retailers...online. I'm not a huge fan of the actual store for a few reasons, being: 1) It's more expensive, except on rare occassions, to purchase your chosen product in store. I find that you can buy most cds online for less than £10, whereas in store, they tend to average at about £15. This said, I appreciate that they ... Read the complete review
