Advantages: Helpful staff, wide range of music
Disadvantages: A bit expensive compared to online prices
HMV is a high street store that mainly sells CD`s but also sells a large selection of DVDs and a few video games and posters.
The stores are in most towns and shopping centres and I would be surprised if you have not been inside an HMV. The stores are large and are laid out well. The music section has a rock and pop section but also has heavy metal, dance and classical music sections as well as many more.
The prices are more expensive than online but a lot cheaper than most stores on the high street. An example of this is an offer for 2 Blu rays for £30 but online at hmv.co.uk their own online store it is 2 for £25! Whether you would rather pay more to get the Blu rays quickly I don`t know but it is a bit cheeky!
The staff are normally very helpful and are happy to help you find something. One problem is the queues are normally massive!
The video games section is not the best but occasionally you find a great deal. For example I got an Xbox 360 60gb, 2 wireless controllers, Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda bundle and Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 for £170! When most places this was about £200+.
Overall I really like HMV for buying music and DVDs and enjoy browsing through the game section for a great deal!
Summary: For all your musical needs

- 02/03/09 I hate HMV, I think they are hugely expensive.
The only time I would ever consider buying is online when they have a sale on. I think their online store is far better than their high street stores. |

- 21/02/09 I only use them when they have a sale on. |
