Advantages: Wide variety products, Great deals, Online shopping.

Disadvantages: long queues, some prices beaten by competitors

HMV has so far survived the recession when competitors such as Zavvi and woolworths could no longer afford to remain in the market, which was a huge bonus for the store who can now expand to cater for online and high street consumers.
The store provides great deals during sales, in particular in January, and is generally good on prices. The store also provides the widest range of DVDs and CDs available on the high street. The instore service is also good, however queues can grow fairly long. The store also operates on line with great deals on downloads and actual products, as well as an efficient store to door service, which generally takes less than a week to deliver.
HMV is the easiest store to walk into a easily browse films and music put into categories of interest. The general layout seems to also always have the best deals at the front including collections of famous actor's films, which always provides interest.
The new management strategy adopted by the firm is also bringing us new generation stores and HMV cinemas which should provide more friendly stores and greater variety of entertainment.
HMV remains a quality high street entertainment provider.

Summary: Quality entertainment provider at decent prices

They always used to be completely over-priced but they do seem to have responded fairly well to the online competition.
