Good range, but beaten by online retaliers (HMV)

Advantages: Easy to reach, large range

Disadvantages: Often more expensive than online retailers

This review will concern itself with the high street stores, and will look at four main areas:

*Store Locations
*Store Layouts
*Pricing + Product Range
*Customer Service

*Store Locations: HMV stores tend to be located in the city centre of most cities and large towns, they tend to be either in the main high street or shopping centre. Basically with regard to location they aren't exactly out of the way.

*Store Layouts: Most stores that I have being too are spread out across two to three floors, with seperate sections for video games, music and DVD's. The layouts tend to suffer somewhat from quite narrow isles, which is particuarly problamatic during the christmas period when you have to squeeze past people to reach what you want. However this is somewhat common to many large retailers.

*Pricing and product rang: Pricing in HMV stores tends to be 'competative' by which I mean no worse than many other high street stores, and certainly better than some, however in many cases it is far cheaper to use an onlne retailer, although they do have some good deals from time to time. Product range is large and varied, while not as big as Amazon, most new and a lot of older releases are their, although their range of video games is somewhat smaller and more confined to newer releases.

*Customer Service: Given the nature of the products that HMV sells most are unreturnable especially once the seal is broken, unless faulty. Staff are helpful, although their is nothing with HMV that really sets it apart from other stores, its not bad, but not especially good either.

Summary: If you need a DVD, CD, or Game, now then HMV is great but otherwise no
