Advantages: Everything under one roof
Disadvantages: The price
Hobbycraft is a large chain of shops that sell anything and everything crafty. They were voted 'Best Craft Chain in the UK' in 2007 so they have got to be doing something right. If you have a specific hobby or are just looking to make something as a one off or you are looking for craft activities for your children then hobbycraft will provide you with a wealth of ideas.
Alongside all of the regular items (which I will tell you about in a mo) you will also find a great deal of seasonal stock. Currently there is all of the Christmas stock in store and this is reiterated throughout many of the different crafts in the shop. You will find Christmas things to sew, stick, stamp, lick, knit, make and do! The list is endless, you will undoubetdly find something for the kids or granny for Christmas.
So onto the rest of the shop. Hobbycraft truly is the king of crafts, there is definately something for everyone and also they don't just stock teh obvious things related to a craft or hobby, they also stock those things that you desperately want and can never get hold of - you crafters know what I mean! So lets get to it, there are jewellery making items, stamping and scrap booking, flower arranging, cake baking, general colouring and sticking, sewing, knitting, model buiding, model railways, dolls house furniture and accessories. For children there are numerous boxed activities incorportaing all of the afore mentioned different types of craft. There is also a section dedictaed to photo frames where you can select the frame from a selection of sizes, materials and shapes, select the insert and appropriate glass. This is useful if you have an odd shaped item that you want to frame - though is expensive.
Alongside all of these crafty items you will also find the books to learn how to do the craft, and something of great importance - storage ideas!
Also something for those planning a wedding - equipment and materials for making tiaras, favours, cards, table decorations. This I imagine is useful when thinking of the current economic climate.
Hobbycraft do occasionally have some good price deals on as well, though you do have to look out for these. Other than the deals I do find Hobbycraft can be quite expensive. So it is a case of weighing up teh pros and cons, knowing you will be able to find what you want against the how much it going to cost (relative to the amount of petrol used scouring the smaller craft shops that always seem to be in the back of beyond)?
I do like hobbycraft, and I am sure that you and I will definately spend more than intended on a visit there!
Summary: Great for crafters everywhere - so much to choose from!
