Advantages: many items at affordable prices

Disadvantages: none

I was wondering through my local Woolworths shop the other day when I spotted a sign I recognised from the internet - HOBBYCRAFT

Living in Plymouth it's hard to find a good craft stores - people round here tend to go to places like Trago Mills or overpriced specialty craft stores. I am getting married in April and pledged to save money by creating my own stationary and favours.

I was surprised to see a craft store such as Hobby craft and in my first visit managed to spend £32. Although this may sound like a lot I managed to get enough card, ribbon, beads, pens, glue and trimmings for 100 invites, 60 menu cards, 60 Order of Service cards and additional stationary. I also managed to make 50 favour boxes. I have never seen such a big selection of Ribbons, which really helped me match colours to bridesmaids dresses.

The store is tucked away in the corner of Woolworths and is large enough. It does tend to get busy and a little untidy but it is never as busy as Woolworths itself.

Hobbycraft sells pretty much everything for the hobbyist by this I mean everything not just crafts and arts materials but knitting, floristry, cake making and model kits. They have an excellent range of magazines and books. It was Hobbycraft in fact that got me into my most recent hobby of wine charm and jewellery making. I have decided to make wine charms for our wedding as favours and necklaces, ear-rings and bracelets for the bridesmaids. All of the items look professional and that's not skill but due to the high quality materials on sale.

Hobbycraft stock a huge variety of "How to..." leaflets with details on how to make certain things. I have tried most of these and they are very useful. I have also purchased a few gifts for family and friends for Christmas. My father in law to be enjoys creating models and my nan is into needlecraft. The items are reasonably priced and well stocked.

I would highly recommend Hobbycraft to anyone wanted to take up a new hobby.

Summary: A great place to get all of your craft equipment!
