Advantages: 4 stars for sheer breadth of offer

I have been to Hobbycraft on a number of occassions for various crafts and have never been disappointed at the sheer breath of the offer. Reviews will be likely to vary depending on what craft the reviewer is looking at this store from. For knitting I have found the range of wools and patterns is excellent. You are much better going here to find books suitable for all levels than you are going to a normal book shop. Items seem reasonably priced. I have been able to find the same products cheaper online but this does not factor in postage costs. In addition, there tends to be a wait for online products to be ordered and then sent through. For that reason, Hobbycraft trumps it for me. See their website for further information on the crafts the store caters for on http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk. Unfortunately you are not able to shop online at present and I am not aware of any discounts available offline.

Summary: You will not be disappointed and will leave with more than you went for!
