Advantages: Great variety and large selections
Disadvantages: Some things can get expensive
Hobbycraft is a brilliant shop if you simply are crafty by nature, beginning to learn a new crafty skill, looking for something for a school project or in my case to - finding random projects for a younger sibling to use. I have quite a bit of free time at the moment, and have found myself turning to crafts as a way to fill it. Usually I am making random felt cute things, latch hook carpets or something else and when I start a new project, Hobbycraft is the first place I visit.
My nearest store is in Watford, and it's such a great store. There is so much space within it that it can contain so many isles, and I've been known to waste about an hour there just looking at all the different things they have. The aisles are well organised, with everything you need for particular products always put in the same isle - for instance if you are looking for projects for children, they are always placed in the same aisle or if you are looking for knitting accessories, you will find wool, needles and books all in the same aisle. Having this layout really makes it easier if you are in a rush and need to pick up something quickly or if you have a particular project in mind and want to browse for things to use to create it.
Baskets are always really handy and comfy, so you can carry them round the store for as long as you want without getting painful hands. Also, around the aisles, they leave handy leaflets about for you to explore and look at - giving you ideas for your next project and instructions on how to make it. I've actually made some of these and they have turned out great. Not only are the leaflets handy and easy to understand but generally they do correspond with the seasons as at Christmas, they had instructions on how to make ornaments for your Christmas Tree.
There is a wide range of prices for the things offered within Hobbycraft, ranging from the cheap to expensive. Usually the things that most people will use such as felt or paper tend to be quite cheaply priced, however if you look at other things such as latch hook rugs or Warhammer figurines, they can get quite expensive. Luckily, there is always something included within these sections that are cheap.
I would recommend Hobbycraft to anyone who is looking for somewhere to purchase their items for craft projects as they really do have such a wide variety of things. This is my all time favourite shop, and I would spend much more money in here if I could!
Summary: Amazing shop for anyone who loves crafts
