Advantages: Excellent savings
Disadvantages: No everyday essential such as milk, bread etc
*Introduction*
My local home bargains (sometime known as quality save) is just down the road for me so is very handy to check it out and see what the latest bargains are. I know that we are no-where near Christmas yet, but this is usually the place I go to buy most of my present. The discounts from the RRP (Recommended Retail Price) can be up to 70% off. They currently have 170 stores throughout the UK.
*customer service*
The staff at my local Home bargains are very friendly. They do recognise me as a regular customer. Sometimes I have been in and not been able to find the price of certain items. The staff there have no problems in helping you by taking the item into the back to scan the price for you. They are rather quick to come back, unlike B&Q, who disappear through the flappy doors and never come back. I'm sure they are at the other side laughing at you.
The queues at the till are reasonable, doesn't take long for you to be served.
*The store layout*
The store layout is great, plenty of room to move up and down the aisles two shopping trolleys can pass each other by with ease. I usually have to go back to get a trolley because my basket is too heavy and full with all the bargains. Only time I would avoid this shop is just after the school has finished as the shop can get packed out with school children using their pocket money on really cheap chocolate (100g bars at 29p) and crisp (Walkers grab bags are only 15p).
*The Product Range*
They have a great selection of toys (2 aisles in my local) full of reasonable priced branded toys such as Bratz, Hannah Montanna, Doctor who and many more. Just recently bought the National geographic mineral dig (a Christmas present for my niece, I'm one of those organised people who store them away in a spare wardrobe, beats the Christmas rush) for £3.99, looked at Amazon and the retail price was £12.99. The good thing is that they will never know how much you paid for it, more pennies for me Yay! The age range of the toys start from baby/toddler up to teenagers (or if you're like me 30+)
The Chocolate and sweet aisles have plenty of variety from well know brands to foreign. I particularly like the Bag of Thornton's misshapes for just 99p (a bargain for all you chocolate lovers!)
There is a lot of cheap beauty products to fill a whole 100 bathrooms full. Everything from Hair dyes, shampoos, body sprays to straightners. All well known brands with massive discounts. Most of the tops brands are in the store regularly, but occasionally you get a special offer which is worth a try. There are some travel sized beauty items in at the moment starting from as little as 19p.
Now for the Homeware section, selling all your kitchen and bathroom needs. Again lots of well known brands at bargain price. They sell everything from Kitchen roll to cleaning product. Amongst the Homeware section you can buy your kitchen appliances, bedding (very nice quality, got a few designs in my room and the guest room) and other decorative items.
Then we can to my favourite aisle, the drinks and alcohol. I don't know where I would be if its wasn't for this section (sober I suppose!). Lots of cheap wine, beer and cider such as Bulmer's 500ml cider for 49p (lovely over a glass of ice)
Only downfall is they don't sell everyday thing like milk, eggs, meat etc, but do sell a variety of pasta meals, tinned food and rice.
