Advantages: Very cheap prices on some things

Disadvantages: Just because it's a discount store, it is sometimes cheaper to shop elsewhere with 3 for 2 offers

This review is based on the home bargains store at Forster Square, Bradford.

This store is an absolute must for me when I am near one. I always pick up cupboard essentials for the kitchen at such great prices. The store sells a variety of things such as sweets, crisps, fizzy drinks, tea/coffee, gifts, towels and toiletries. Although I think the toiletries are cheap, I normally skip through the majority of this aisle, as I am an Advantage Card junkie and normally stock up on 3 for 2s at Boots.

I went to Home Bargains on Tuesday and managed to spend £18 on a variety of things. The best bargain I managed to get this week was 10 packs of handy sized tissues with various Disney characters on for 40 pence! Yes, 40 pence! The next fantastic bargain I got was a pack of Capri Sun for 99p, which is currently on sale in Asda for £2.43. I also bought 2 cans of Pepsi Max at 25 pence each, a 500g pack of KP peanuts for 99p and some bleach for 39p.

Last week when I was in Home Bargains I managed to find a v-tech computer for my daughter for Christmas. They retail at £50 but it was £25 here. They also sold the cartridge games for £1.99, which usually retail at £14.99.

At the moment, Home Bargains have a Halloween section, where there are costumes for both adults and children, decorations for the home as well as treats for those pesky little trick or treaters! We picked up a Halloween Pumpkin craving kit for £2.99. I would imagine after Halloween, all the Christmas things will come out. Perfect for gift bags, etc.

I always think that despite Home Bargains being a discount shop, it is always clean. I do tend to find that they are constantly restocking the shelves so you do have to manoeuvre around the trolleys, which they hold all their stock on.

My one and only gripe with Home Bargains is the queue. No matter what time of day it is, you always have to queue. There is a big sign saying if there are more than 2 people in front of you they will open another till, but I don't think this is always the case.

This is definitely a shop I would recommend, although the kind of food it sells are the kind that are not so good for you, so be careful when you go! Taking the kids is definitely a no no, but it's perfect for stocking up the Christmas cupboard or on treats for Halloween.
