Advantages: Can always pick up a bargain

Disadvantages: Not a huge range of brands and can be very busy at times

In the town where I live we have had a Home Bragins store for a couple of years now and I think it is great. We used to have two Wilkinsons stores and when the larger of the two shops was closed it was replaced by Home Bargains, a discount retailer that sells many different items at cheap prices.

When you first enter Home Bargains the first aisle is full of toiletries, this is the store in Pontefract but I can imagine that most stores are the same. It sells a range of toiletries from shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, toothpaste, deodrant etc....Basically anything you need to clean and style yourself. I don't tend to buy a lot of toiletries from this store as although they sell everything they don't seem to sell the brands that I like to buy, for example, Sure Deodrant and Macleans Toothpaste. They do sell branded items though and they are cheap.

Down the second aisle you will find cleaning products. Bleach, bathroom cleaner, fabric conditioner, oven cleaner, wahing tablets etc.. Again I find this similar to the toiletries, they don't have a large selection of brands but what they do sell is reasonably priced.

Although I don't buy many toiletries and cleaning products from this store the areas which I think you can pick up a bargain are the toys and the food. The toys can usually be food along the top of the store and they have a range of girls and boys toys. They sell toys you might find in shops like Argos or Toys RUs but they are just so much cheaper, over the years I have picked up quite a few bargains. I think you just have to keep an eye out for the bargains because sometimes they will have good offers on but they don't seem to last long. If you see something you want get in there and then because next time it won't be there.

The food can be found in the last two aisles of the store, Home Bargains sells all sorts of different food items, from crisps to noodles to chocolate to cereal. Again not a huge selection of brands but they do sell bits of everything. I often buy cans of pop for just 25p which I think is a bargain. You can also buy alcohol from here, they seem to have lots of bottles of cheap wine but I can't say I've ever bought any.

One part of the store I really like is the stationery area. They sell lots of colouring books for as cheap as 50p or £1, felt pen and pencil sets for just a few pound. I find these items are great for presents for childrens parties and if my boys have a party to attend I will always go to Home Bargains for a present.

My only complaint about this store is that it is always very busy and they never seem to have enough people on the tills but I think this is same in any bargain shop you go to.

Home Bargains is a great shop for buying your bits and bobs from, if you go in on a regular basis I can guarantee you will pick up a bargain from time to time. It's a good store, however there seems to be more and more bargain shops opening and it now faces competition from places like B&M.

Summary: A shop I go in at least every couple of weeks.

An ex-Woolworths near me is about to become a Home Bargains. This review gives me a good idea of what to expect - and I wasn't surprised you mentioned B&M, as it sounds very similar.
