Advantages: Regular promotions on already competative prices.
Disadvantages: Two faces shown by my local Homebase
My father bought me a Flymo mower at their Boston store on there special 10% saving day together with a mower special deal with 2000 extra reward points worth an additional £20. This was great value for the mower saving over £35 pounds on the already competative price. On return to my home the mower was soon put to work and the mower engine started making strange noises I stopped the mower the blade had come so loose it was about to come off. I telephoned the Homebase store in my home town and a nice and pleasent sounding woman acertained the problem and confirmed I was still is possesion of the purchase receipt and confirmed that they both had a similar mower in stock and would be prepared to swap the mowers over that day. Unfortunately, on arrival at the store the staff in the store seemed to be less helpful and unwilling to automatically swap the mowers given the evidence of recent purchase and the obvious state of the mower after its maiden outing. When I insisted that I would not be leaving the store without the mower being exchanged and explaining to them about my telephone call to the store earlier that day, the staff in the shop begrudgingly made the exchange. This left a bit of a sour taste and I found the two faces of my local Homebase a bit hard to take. I have made a point of taking the very best care of the replacement mower to avoid a repeat of this situation. I would recommend Homebase to others but would urge people not to be fobbed-off by any retailer if a recently bought product was not of mechantable quality.
