Advantages: cheap, easily fitted, 99p breakfast, free coffee/tea, bargain corner
Disadvantages: only one in wales- cardiff
IKEA is the most affordable, most reliable and most convenient home furnishing store for me.
Products-
Almost all their furniture is cheap. They come flat packed but they are too easy to fit- most of the fittings can be done by the Alan key provided. I have been shopping in Ikea ever since we got a house and we still continue. They always have new designs, although some may look stupid!! Once you visit their store you get many ideas to diy for your house too. If you moving to a new home, then visiting ikea would be ideal.
Restaurant-
Their restaurant food is good but limited menu. They have started with the Ikea family card with which you get discounts on many items and food-. They serve 99p breakfast (non family card members pay £1.55) with free coffee and tea during weekdays- served only till 11am.
Activities-
They run quite a few activities to bring the community together- something called 'Amuze'. I even saw them organising one of these events for some school. During Easter they had fun filled days for kids-like treasure hunt, craft sessions, story time etc. They have such activities during many term holidays. They do have an onsite crèche which is free for children from 3years but do have time limit- but it's a relief to sometimes shop without the kids!!!
Bargain corner-
If you are just browsing and don't want to go empty handed home, then just drop into bargain corner usually near the checkouts. You tend to find some ex display furniture/ lightings, some with damaged package and even some small articles like spoons, plates, candles for as less as 20p.
Well I haven't been to many Ikeas but this is what it is in Cardiff.
Summary: If you moving to a new home, then visiting ikea would be ideal.
