Advantages: Lovely furniture and accessories, good prices, massive stores, cheap food

Disadvantages: The odd thing can look a bit tacky

Over a year ago a new Ikea branch opened in Belfast. Its about a 30 minute drive from me and i heard so many people raving about how good it was going to be that i couldnt wait to go and have a look.

If you have never heard of Ikea before, it is a privately held retailer selling flat packed furniture, homewares, accessories and bathroom and kitchen items.

My mum and dad were the first to visit it and came back going on for days about how brilliant it was and how much stuff they had.

My parents have become addicted to it and the times i have been in it myself, i have absolutely loved it! The building itself is massive, there is a car park attached with free parking for customers.

There is also a large restaurant where they usually sell meatballs, pasta and currys with chips. If you go there, you have to try the Dime cake, its gorgeous! The staff are very friendly and helpful.

There are two huge floors. The top floor has the restaurant and lots of different rooms layed out in full like bedrooms and kitchens. I love looking around this and wishing my house looked the same!

I think the stuff in Ikea is gorgeous, there are a few tacky things but most of the stuff is really lovely.

I think the prices of the products are quite reasonable compared to what you might pay in other places. Ikea is now the worlds largest furniture retailer. I keep saying to my mum if i win the lottery im going to buy a huge house and Ikea it from top to bottom.

Ikea was founded in 1943 in Sweden and it has over 123,000 employees. Im not surprised at this number as the stores are huge, i could spend full days walking around them looking longingly at things.

Ikea has over 300 stores in 37 countries. I am so glad that they opened one in Belfast as i had always wanted to go to one as i heard so much about it. My favourite part of going to Ikea is probably the food.

They sell two chocolate ring doughnuts and a tea for less than a pound among other things!

I would definitely recommend giving Ikea a visit if you are thinking of decorating your home or even just want a few nic nacs. The stuff is really lovely and with such big stores you wont get bored.

Summary: Visit it
