Advantages: good selection, good price, great quality
Disadvantages: expect a long shopping day!
Ikea is a European company which has over the past decade taken England by a storm! They sell a huge range of modern household furniture & accessories.
Our local store is in Coventry which only got built approx 5 years so is our first local store. The store is based on several floors and is not somewhere that can be looked round in a few minutes, be prepared to spend quite a bit of your day there. It is quite clever how they have set out the store, you follow the store around and it takes you through every section, there are some short cuts but we took a few and ended up going back on ourselves so it's best to stick to the route! Half way round is a cafe, which to be honest at this point you are ready for a sit down! And if I remember rightly it was only about 40p for a cup of tea!
As you go round you can view all the furniture and they are all set out in units and it makes you feel like you are at home and gives you a great idea of how the items would look in your room and some decorative ideas!
As you go down a few floors you end up in the accessories part which sells everything from scented candles to kitchen utencils and they are all good value for money.
If you wanted some furniture you are required to write down the reference number that is on the display and take it to the checkouts and then you need to go to the collection floor (it's a bit all over the place but works in the end)
The furniture normally comes in a flat pack and we have never had a problem assembling them.
I think they have good styles and a modern look, it's a great shop with a huge variety, would highly recommend.
Summary: great place for furniture & accessories would highly recommend
