Advantages: Problems sorted with a smile

Disadvantages: The packaging is sub-standard

My first trip to Ikea to buy wardrobes was truly an interesting experience.I wanted wardrobes with full mirror doors.
Having researched many outlets Ikea had just what I wanted after placing the order I went home to eagerly await delivery of my purchase.

Three days later they arrived/great I would soon have the bedroom I had dreamed of/ but on opening the packaging three of the mirrors were broken.

I contacted the store and they agreed to send replacements the next week but yet again they were also damaged on arrival.

I was then told they had discontinued them and couldnt get anymore.

What could I do now/ they suggested giving me a refund/but that would leave me without doors on the wardrobes that apart from the mirrors were very well built.

The outcome of this story is that Ikea agreed to pay in full the cost for me to get the doors re-glazed,refunded my delivery charge and gave me an extra £50 for the inconvenience.

The customer service department were very helpful and sympathetic to my dilemma and I have now got my beautiful wardrobes.

So if you have any problems speak to customer services at Ikea they know the true meaning of the word unlike most other companies today.

IKEA have had a lot of bad press about their customer services in the past. It is good to know they have listened and taken action.

This is good to know - I rate customer service extremely highly as I consider it to be part of what you pay for so am always on the look out for places with good practice

I'm glad you had a good experience at Ikea. Sometimes they don't have enough staff to deal with problems. The last time I went, my friend spent half an hour queuing to get a £4.50 item replaced. In the end she figured it wasn't worth the wait and walked up to the front of the queue - said 'This is broken, I don't want it' and walked out
