Advantages: Great service, great products, fast delivery, good prices, familar like the original Index stores

Disadvantages: It's just another Littlewoods catalogue company in a familar guise to grab more customers in, pointless if you're already a member of one of Littlewoods home shopping catalogue companies

You've all heard of Index right? If not, all you need to know is that it's just like Argos really - a catalogue shopping...shop. And most of their stores were originally located inside the now-defunct Littlewoods' stores, but now have their own home.
Littlewoods still lives on though, they only pulled their chain of stores, now they carry on through their range of catalogue companies and to increase familiarity, they've taken Index - the go-get-it-yourself catalogue shop, and made an offshoot called Index Extra, where you can order from phone. You could do this with the original Index too, but Index Extra really is a proper home shopping experience, than just an appended monicker. It has everything from clothes, jewellery, electronics, toys, household items etc.
The only thing is like all other Littlewood's catalogue companies the price hardly differs, so whichever you choose it doesn't matter. Admittedly they all have good prices, a good range, great service and fast delivery times, and are pretty much the kings of home shopping, but Index Extra is just a name ploy to get existing Index customers who haven't tried true home shopping to do so, hence the name, and the Index stores flogging the Index Extra catalogues too. Good, but don't bother if you're already a customer of another Littlewoods home shopping catalogue, it's just the same name, but with a different name to get more customers.
