Newest Review: ... they are catering specifically to the London-based Japanese population, who wouldn't need instructions on these products, but it would have been very helpful for me to know what everything was. Another issue I had was the fact that, failing to find what I wanted at the Japan Centre, I walked to Chinatown to try my luck there - and I found at least two or three more items! At cheaper prices, ... more

... as well. So the Japan Centre is very nice, and I imagine especially good for lunch if you're looking for fresh sushi. But it's quite pricey, and the stock is not as expansive as you'd like it to be....more

Premium Review Japan Centre - Pricey with limited stock but otherwise enjoy ... (457 words)

My brother-in-law was born and raised in Japan, and has, over the years, introduced my sister to a variety of Japanese culinary delicacies. She's been constantly updating me on the yummy pasta sauces, cookies, rice dressings and so forth that he's turned her on to, so I finally asked her to type up a list for me to brandish at the Japan Centre in Piccadilly Circus. I went right after the Food Hall moved closer to Bond Street - I wasn't aware of this, so I went straight to the location closest to Piccadilly, which is now solely magazines, books, and home wares. There, I was able to get a very sharp, bamboo-handled, Japanese-crafted kitchen knife (I've been ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Japan delivered to your door (1416 words)

*Japan is now apparently in the centre of London!* Japan Centre is a series of businesses based in London Piccadilly, with the stated aim of having Japan 'delivered to your door'. It's an absolutely wonderful idea for a diverse range of people: from someone looking to take their first tentative steps towards trying sushi, or for crazed Japanophiles who can't cope without a weekly supply of edamame, sake and good quality sushi rice. All under one roof you can find a retail store, a popular website for ordering Japanese goods, a restaurant, sushi classes, Japanese recipes (in English), a user forum and a bilingual recruitment agency. Much ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Japan Centre: Good shop, good food! (184 words)

I have bought products online from Japan Centre a few times (my sister has bought from there many many many times!) and a couple of weeks ago had the chance to go to the actual place in Piccadilly, London on a holiday. There was a wide range of take away food including the best sushi I've ever eaten! They sold drinks, bread, bento boxes and had a fresh food takeaway bit as well with noodles etc. In the back there is the shop that sells things from bowls and plates to soy sauce, rice and Pocky! There are also plenty of food options for vegetarians and vegans. They also sell sweets and desserts. The prices in the Japan Centre are really ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sushi for Everyone (447 words)
by - written on 19/09/08 (Very useful, 55 readings)

The Japan Centre, situated in the heart of Picadilly, is a Japanese lifestyle concept store, complete with restaurant, homeware shop and take-away. I've only visited the take-away part of this place, but I was very impressed. The atomosphere is buzzing; you can tell that this place is popular and the food is good. The sushi is easy to find, as it's right near the front, and there's plenty of choice available. As well as the safer, cucumber, avocado and chicken maki variations (I'm a bit new to all the terminology, so excuse me if I get it a little bit wrong) there are also some that are more adventurous including squid, tuna, and masago (fish roe, which still freaks ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Japan Centre: A range of goods and services originating from Japan. (594 words)

Based in Piccadilly Circus, the Japan Centre was first established in 1976. Having shopped at the Japan Centre for many years, the layout has gone through several changes and only just recently expanded into the adjacent building. The Japan Centre is in an easily accessible Location, a minute away from the Piccadilly Line tube station and a bus stop right in front. A range of goods and services are available including a bookshop, sushi delicatessen, supermarket, restaurant and travel agency. While I haven't eaten at the restaurant or used the travel agency services, I frequently shop for books and food from the supermarket and delicatessen. First ...  Read the complete review
