Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Too Expensive
I have just had to buy a school sweatshirt for my daughter from John Lewis. It was £25.00!!! It is an ordinary sweatshirt with a school logo on it. I had no choice in where to buy this from, as this is the only place that sells the uniform for my daughters school. I do not see why any store should make so much profit on a childs uniform. They know that we have to buy it, which is why the price is so high but it is not very customer friendly is it? Also the headteachers should rethink the policy of giving the rights to one shop to sell their school uniform, They do want ALL the students to wear it. How can people on a low wage manage? Why can't there be a few shops selling them, or have the schools got shares in John Lewis??? So any John Lewis staff or headteachers out there reading this please take note. The prices cannot be justified and everyone has the right to a choice. The right to choose whether to buy from an expensive store or not.

- 31/03/01 Sidney Gee, I was being sarcastic, of course I do not think that the school has shares in John Lewis, it is something you would think owing to the prices and the fact you have no choice. My younger daughter has a uniform and her Sweatshirt from the school costs £8.00. Why can't the school sell them themselves? £25.00 IS EXCESSIVE. |

- 04/02/01 Remember that John Lewis is owned by the 'partners' who work there. To suggest that your child's school owns shares in it is off the mark. Anyway, perhaps you shouldn't send your child to a school that insists on uniforms ? I only wish that the school where my trio went to had. It would have saved a lot of trouble ! |

- 24/01/01 Although you are making an important point this opinion is not really about John Lewis. Surely the school or local council played a bigger role in this decision? Have you written to anyone about this problem? |
