I wanted to buy a dress that I had tried on in store a few weeks previously but it was sold out online everywhere. I phoned my nearest L.K. Bennett store (Cambridge) and the assistant could not have been more helpful. She not only sourced the dress in my size from another shop but she waited a few days before sending it as it was going to be reduced in the sale so she could give it to me at sale price. It is the most beautiful dress and I am very impressed with the service I received. Will definitely shop there again in the future.
I was in London on the Tuesday the shop was busy I had seen a bag on line I wanted the Staff were really helpful. I even bought a dress shoes and belt as well I love this range. I do not agree that it is marketed at the twenties I am 47 and the dress I have bought someone in their twenties would not wear it. My Husband chose it and the Staff found that by adding a different belt gave the dress a whole new look. That is what I expect from going in to a store to be advised on what matches and other ideas I could try. Nothing was to much trouble as I had tried on lots of oufits I would use this store again I liked the way they wrap your items and provide advise on looking after your new shoes and bags. Everything had a dust bag to keep my items like new at home all I can say is thank you LKBennet
I found myself in L.K. Bennett in Canary Wharf a few days ago and was so impressed with the excellent customer service and beautiful and elegant clothes. The minute I walked in a sales person asked what I was looking for and then started grabbing suggestions and she even brought me shoes to try on with the dresses.I am a pear-shaped size 12 and often find dresses are a bit big on top, but every dress I tried on looked great! They are perfect for a sophisticated office look, a wedding, or an evening out. The cardigans and blouses were very figure flattering too.The average price for a dress was between £125 - £195, which is more than I would usually spend, but I would still shop there again.
Wanted to buy few dresses for my mum in Lk Bennett in size 14 but they didn't have it in Cambridge Lion Yard Shopping centre. I asked sale girl if they can have a look in their system if any other store have them and she said that its not possible. The store had size 12 and 16 and noone offered to alter the dresses (as i just read from previous review). Not impresses with service at all.
Like a few of the comments on LK Bennett, I also experienced sub-par customer service on trying to return a faulty item. I am a (grudging) regular customer, because the styling is good, but the quality especially of the clothing is sometimes poor, which becomes clear after dry cleaning. The staff become aggressive when you try to return an item that is clearly faulty, inventing procedures and excuses rather than simply replacing your item and giving you a refund - and heaven forfend, an apology for wasting your time by selling faulty merchandise!
I absolutely LOVE LK bennett clothes and shoes, I have always found their styles to be simply classic and beautifully english. I have had 2 pairs of shoes I have had to return through faults, but the shop assistant in both stores we have here in Norwich and the customers services, were so kind and exchanged/refunded with no problems whatsoever. I am very surpised to read such bad reviews of LK bennett, most of them seem to be disgruntled customers due to not adhering to the returns policy. I would say that in all shops the refund policy's are strict and are not really flexible due to the very nature of them. Once you have purchased it is wholely your responsability to return in good time.I have 32 pairs of LK's and I adore, lust over and enjoy all of them!
I don't know what it is about this shop but I just don't like it at all. I don't know quite what the age range the stock is aimed at, but at 28 years old I wasn't over-impressed by any of their stock. I was in it with my Mum when she was looking for an occassion dress recently and she seemed to like some of the items so perhaps it's just me. But I'll give you my thoughts anyway...
Ok, so the shop itself I found to be quite dull and boring. It is quite bare in that it is trying to be like a boutique with the clothing and so there is a lot of open space in the beige coloured store. They seem to stock dresses and smart-casual/work-type items with the odd pair of shoes here and a couple of bags there. While there was the occassional nice item it went straight back on the rail when I spotted the price! Now, I love quality clothes and the dresses from places like Coast and Karen Millen are worth the more expensive price tags. But I'm sorry LK Bennet, I don't think your clothes are in that league to command such a high price. It is awfully overpriced for what I deem to be average clothing of average quality.
The shop assistants were friendly and helpful but I felt a bit sorry for them as they looked completely bored out of their minds. The shop was quite empty and they had nothing else to do but stand there and wait for someone, anyone, to want help.
It really is not somewhere I will be shopping in again unless they drastically reduce their prices (or up the fashionability - is that a word?! - of their clothing) and stop trying to be a snobbish boutique when they really aren't.
A light at the end of the tunnel. I bought a pair of L K Bennett boots in the Selfridges sale at end of Dec 09. The heal snapped a few weeks later. Selfridges assistant would not accept them back and said our fault for having them soled! I wrote to Head Office, 3 Cavendish Square and they have fully refunded me and apologised so, contrary to past experiences, I think they are now trying to address customer issues, certainly my experience. Just wanted to let people know that L K Bennett were helpful so, if your outlet is not helpful, try going direct.
I love the style of LK Bennett shoes but you have to beware - the quality is sometimes really poor! I wore a pair of black leather boots 5 times before the leather parted company with the sole. On taking them back, I was told, in a very agressive tone of voice "well, we are not giving you a refund!". I have lost count of the times I have been in the stores and witnessed stand up rows between staff and disgruntled customers. My tip is to buy at one of the outlets within a larger store - that way you are covered by the larger stores (always better) returns policy. In conclusion - divine shoes, diabolical customer relations!
Appalling refund mentality.My wife bought a suit from the shop for an interview which she wanted to refund. On the 7th day (Saturday) she telephoned the store to say that she would not be able to return it to the store for a refund until the Monday because her elderly disabled mother (who lives about 90 miles away) had broken her leg. She was told that the policy was completely inflexible and that if the goods were returned on the Monday there would be no refund.It is like a Little Britain "Computer says no" - disgusting for what is supposed to be a prestige store.
I went into LK Bennett looking for a dress to wear to a wedding. Having never attended a traditional English wedding, I had no idea of what would be appropriate. I asked the sales assistant for help with the one dress that fit. She said it looked good on me, but I said I was unsure of the style and whether it was appropriate to wear to a wedding. She said it was perfect for a wedding. It was the last one in stock and it was on sale. Feeling relieved that I'd found the perfect dress, I bought it.
I've since found that the dress is NOT appropriate - too much bling. And now I'm stuck with a dress I can't wear and can't return and my hubby thinks the style is unflattering.
I feel so conned !!! It's the first and the last time that I'll shop there.
I bought a pair of sandals from them and wore them once. They gave me a bloody wound, and left me wearing flip flops for a week.When I took them back they sent them to their "Quality control" team who said there was nothing wrong with them. (You can clearly see and feel something hard trapped under the stitching on the side I got injured.In my opinion LK Bennetts are a cowboy operation that have no commitment to customer care. Their attitude appears to be that if you are mug enough to buy something from one of their stores then tough!! I would never buy anything from them again.
Like the lady with the scuffed boots, I received terrible customer service from LK Bennett when they sold me faulty goods. I bought a c.£200 handbag from them less than 3 months ago. It was poorly designed so the handle frayed & the zipper was closed with tiny pieces of leather which fell off & made the zipper impossible to close.Despite them agreeing it was faulty, they refused to give me a refund until after they sent the goods off for 6 wks for inspection - nearly 1/2 the time I'd owned the bag! I ended up paying to exchange it for another bag. This is contravention to my statutory rights under the Sale of Goods Act 1979.I will NEVER buy from them again - they clearly sell faulty goods & then use heavy handed bully tactics to prevent you exercising your legal rights. BEWARE!
Have just attempted to secure a refund on an unwanted Christmas gift. My well-meaning husband bought a dress on sale for me which just doesn't work - I am short waisted and larger busted, LK Bennett does not design or cut their garments for women with my curves. Thus a credit note which they FINALLY offered after some phone calls, is entirely useless - why would I buy from a shop whose products don't flatter my shape? I never have shopped there before and certainly won't now. Poor hubby has learned his lesson. Anyone want to buy a 100 pound credit note?
I have to agree with that review about the treatment that staff receive in certain branches as I have witnessed it , having wored in London for quite a while myself. There is actually a general bad attitude from senior staff who regard the sales assistants as "disposable" and easily replacable. I have to say it is sufficient to see how the company's owner herself looks at them. I was shocked the first day I saw her as she greeted her in the store She looked at me from head to toe and just blanked me totally as if I was nothing else but a piece of furniture. That set the whole work atmosphere , doesn't it!Thankfully, I have met some fantastic people there who were great to work with like the Paris staff who are just adorable and very diffferent from my co-workers.
