Advantages: good quality clothes, fair prices, that's it

Disadvantages: crap customer service, incorrect billing, incorrect order processing

It seems that it's not clear what I am reviewing here, going by some comments on my review. I though that the assumption was that folks would know the company/product but would like to find out other people's experiences and views. Never mind - here's some extra info. Hope it helps.

This company are a catalogue-based clothing supplier with a web-facing business presence also, as many companies have nowadays. They sell themselves as having affordable and stylish (French-influenced) clothes for men, women and children. Their website is found at http://www.redoute.co.uk.

My wife was a customer of this outfit a couple of years ago. After a ridiculous mix-up over what got sent and what got charged for, involving us spending our time to fix the situation, she decided not to use them again.

She was lured back recently and tried to purchase some clothes for herself and our children. There was again a combination of mix-ups on their part, including erroneous and failed attempts to take money from our credit card, which they wanted to charge us for, and double-ordering so that they charged us twice for our order, requiring us to go through an unnecessray return procedure.

We thought we had cleared it all up, and got an apology from them! Then this morning we get another letter advising that they could not get money from our card - for what this time I do not know - and would charge us a fee for this. My bank tell me that there is nothing wrong at our end and that it appears that La Redoute made a mistake. Also they appear to have lied about trying to take payment on one occasion when the bank had no record of this.

Getting satisafaction - or indeed a response - from Customer Services is a mission. They promise to phone back and neglecct to do so.

La Redoute are clearly getting a lot of things wrong in their processes. The shame is that the clothes are pretty good. The disrup
tion that this company cause to an already busy family life, however, is absolutely not worth it.

The only reason I have given La Redoute a si
ngle star in teh overall rating is that there is no option for "no stars".

La Redoute deserve to lose custom. My recommendation is to avoid this company. Caveat emptor. You have been warned.

Generally you just have to leave a message in the comments section of members latest ops! A lot of members are over on Tooyoo and that has a private message function! It just depends who you're wanting to contact and whether they're a member or not!

Love the message below and it's a fair point, but even when you give a company or product a well deserved roasting, you have to include as many aspects of their service as you can think of! Granted it's a lot harder when you hate their service! If you put in the ordering details you've got below, I'll up the rating to a VU! Wow! - how much detail do you folks need?! But thanks for the compliments, alma1 (who I cannot contact - no email address in your profile).

My intention was in fact *not* to give much in the way of general info on the company as this can be found at their website (do a Google on "La Redoute" - honest, it's easy).

Nor do I think that there is much that can be said about the ordering procedure; they take telephone orders as well as orders over the internet. I would not want to go into detail here anyway because I want to disuade you from making such orders! ;-)

I really hope I have given enough info on this wretched company now. Certainly I have detailed our experience as well as I can remember it and I hope that I deserve a positive re-rating for my efforts! ;-)

Here's a question: How do I leave a message for members? Is there a "private messaging" function? I cannot find it yet.

Perhaps you could give a bit more info on the company, the items they sell etc? If you do I'll happily re-rate.
