The city of Nottingham has always been famous for the production of lace and still today some of the best lace in the world is still produced by small specialist companies in the Lace Market area of the city. Near to the entrance of Nottingham Castle is a medieval thatched house that is The Lace Centre. In here you can see an enormous selection of decorative pieces of lace, from small handkerchiefs to very large tablecloths that are for sale. Most of the lace is designed to be souvenirs or momentos of a visit to the city or the castle, although there are some practical pieces as well.
