Advantages: Good fruit and veg, organic cheese and yogurt, nice meat, cheap free range eggs

Disadvantages: Beef mince not so good, you do have to find out for yourself and see what works for you or not.

As I said in a previous review, I shop at both Aldi and Lidl although lately I have had a preference for Lidl.

Here I'll try to explain why.
First of all Lidl is bigger than Aldi in terms of space so stocks more products.
I did a fruit and veg detox 2 months ago, which involved buying an impressive amount of fruit and veg. Had it not been for Lidl I would have struggled to afford them.
Their avocados were priced at 19p each, yes, 19 pence! I needed about 2 a day so was very pleased with that. Then I needed lots of apples (about 35 for one week), again I found them in Lidl for 65 pence for a bag of 10. Ok they were small but they did the job in my juicer!

What I love about Lidl is that because I've tried so many products from there I now know straight away which ones are good or bad. Apart from the wide range of fruit and veg, I am not afraid to say their meat is pretty decent too. We've tried the cured ham, the boiled ham, the bacon, the lamb chops and they were all good. We're not keen on the beef mince but that's about it.

Their free range eggs are cheap at £1.27 for 6 and they do not taste any different to the ones I used to get in Morrisons.

I also love their Greek yogurt at £1.95 for a big tub which lasts me a week.
I've got into the habit of buying their organic cheddar and their organic yogurt which are both excellent. I mix the yogurt with their muesli in the morning and add a chopped apple or banana. It keeps me full for longer than any cereal I've ever tried.

They have a nice selection of chocolates and biscuits and chocolate bars.
They also have a decent range of pasta, canned beans (butter beans, baked beans, kidney beans and so on), olives and coffee.

I'd suggest to anyone who's not convinced to try to visit Lidl at a quiet time to have a chance to browse and see what they have on offer. I must admit I didn't use to like Lidl that much but since struggling financially, I have changed my shopping habits and you do come out better off.

Summary: Decent food for decent prices
