Advantages: Great fruit and vegetables, delicious international foods, and massive money savings

Disadvantages: They do sell out of some things, and I didn't like the coffee I bought there

Lidl is my favourite grocery store by far. It's not just the massive discounts that have me hooked, but also the quality of the merchandise they sell and the fact that they have interesting food from around the world.

My favourite section is probably the Greek food - they have delicious Halva which is a type of sesame fudge it you haven't tried it, but also lovely olives, and in the refrigerated section there are stuffed vine leaves and some amazing peppers stuffed with feta that I am absolutely addicted to. They also do Italian food that is very good quality, German food, etc. I read somewhere that they sell the same food items in every country they operate in, so for example their Italian stuff has to be high quality or else real Italians wouldn't buy it!

Another great thing about Lidl is their special offers on consumer goods. You can go to their Web site and read about the upcoming promotions and there is even a way to search for what will be available in your local store. Most of the items in this section are very good quality. I was able to get cycling shoes from them, plus gym shoes and a toolkit for my bike saving 70-80% off what other places charge, and everything is lasting really well and is very sturdy. Just keep checking the Web site and if you see something you want go on the day the sale starts to avoid disappointment, as they sell out of some of the best stuff very quickly.

My favourite products from Lidl, apart from those already mentioned, are the sherry, low-fat cheese, and the produce which is always very fresh, cheap, and tastier than most of what you find in other grocery stores.
