God and bad of Lidl (Lidl)

I shop at Lidl both in UK and in Italy, this review is based on my experience in both countries, but I will mention differences whenever relevant.

Lidl are a German firm which is found in most european countries.

They offer very cheap products adopting the strategy of offering only 1 brand for each product. Most Lidl I have visited look quite scruffy, with things in the carton boxes, but in Italy this is less than in UK.

Goods at Lidl can be good and can be bad. It is very much a matter of luck and tastes. They are for sure cheap, for example, their salmon in Italy is really good value for money, and so is their parmesan cheese. In Uk I love their multivitaminic juice.

They sell fresh and canned products. Despite few reviews on Dooyoo stating that they have great fruits and vegetables, I must say that in Italy they are just ok, but in UK I would not say they are great. I think they do better on canned and bottled stuff. Their olive oil, for example, is good value for money.

Staff are as scruffy as the place. There were reports of management spying on staff. I must say that it is not a bad idea. Again, in UK more than in Italy I found their staff very unprofessional, unable or unwilling to help.

The queue at the till is what really keeps me away from Lidl more than I would. I really need to have time if i want to shop there since there is always too many people in front of me.

You pay for your own plastic bags at Lidl.

In conclusion, they have some real bargains, but service is bad.
