Links of London
Advantages: Beautiful pieces
Disadvantages: Unwieldy website
Having received a Sweetie bracelet recently, and eyeing it up for a little while before hand, and then eyeing up sale bargains post- Christmas afterwards, I have been using the Links of London site a lot lately.
Links of London is a well known jewellery brand that is popular in the UK as well as abroad. It has a traditional range of necklaces, earrings bracelets, rings, charms, watches and accessories and caters for men, women and even children and babies. They are also currently doing a special 2012 range in honour of the London Olympics. I will base my thoughts on the website as I have yet to go into a store. Links of London stores aren't all that common. There are several stores located in city centres especially London. If you want to find out where to find one near you, you can use the Store Locator. You will find that there are also local stores who are permitted to sell Links of London jewellery in there stores which can be more convenient that traipsing on a long journey up to town.
As I say, I have yet to go into an actual store but from what I have seen, the stores are beautifully laid out and presented with cabinets full of enticing wares. Unfortunately, I have head some rather negative things on discussing with people about their customer service but as my transaction so far was online, I have yet to comment.
Prices are high. You can't really find anything under £25, unless a few odd Sale items, most items are around the £100 mark and a lot of it, especially gold items of course, reach into the hundreds. If you were to get your whole jewellery wardrobe from Links you would need deep pockets.
Their website is not very user friendly. Their sale was a few days late starting due to technical problems, even then, it would only show the current price, no indication as to how much it had been reduced from. They do offer a wish-lish but sadly there is no way for other people to browse your list as per Amazon. Therefore, you kind of lose the element of surprise if you have to specifically email the list to others.
I also find their website can be a bit clunky in terms of product offerings. So you may see a product one week, but then the next time you look for it, it's gone because when a product is out of stock it simply disappears rather than showing you the product but detailing that it is currently out of stock. There is also no New page so if you want to see what new items they have, you have to run through all the products on the website.
I have heard through the Facebook page, that they will be redesigning the website which I hope is true. I recently ordered a couple of items in their Sale, and it wouldn't even tell me a total! Their standard delivery charge is 6 days, though luckily I had a code but that's quite a bit for something that takes 6 days.
Do be careful though, due to the popularity of Links Of London jewellery, there are clone sites all over the place waiting to take your money and give you either nothing or a cheap imitation. The real site is http://www.linksoflondon.com and has Cat Deeley, their ambassador all over it.
Summary: So far, so average
