Advantages: Can buy things in an emergency if something breaks and no cash spare,i.e.washing machine.

Disadvantages: Can get carried away and spend too much and they do charge a bit too much.

I have used Littlewoods catalogue ever since I became a home owner more than a decade ago.I find them a little more expensive than shopping on the internet etc,but no worse than any other catalogue for home shopping.
As I have been a customer for such a long time I have had a lot of different products off them. Most being of extremely good quality. When things go faulty ,which during the last 12 months for me ,have been a steam generating iron and a mobile phone. There is superb after care service. No arguments. If its inside the twelve month guarantee. They ask you to parcel it up securely with your name ,address, product number and what is wrong with it.Your catalogue account then gets credited with the amount of the product.
The mobile phone incident was great service. The phone was only two weeks inside guarantee. With any other company they would have messed around sending the phone for repair. So when it came to buying a replacement mobile phone,I bought one off them at ten pound dearer than elsewhere but with the knowledge that I would have no fuss when things went wrong,if needed.
Also they are always reasonable with their telephone answering times. The delivery people are extremely helpful .I usually end up getting my packages a day earlier than they say on the phone.hich could be a problem if I wasnt available most times.
Their apr's are high as with any catalogue. And the loss of Buy now pay later interest free has made the service a bit poorer.
All in all its Great service though.

Summary: Better to buy cash ,usually cheaper but great when there is no other option.

Its just a case of doing the maths really. If your only looking at a few quid ,its really worth buying from them on the service side of it.Obviously if it was a big difference I would not buy it just for the afterservice. Its something people have to weigh out for themselves.

My sister has an account with Littlewoods - I always wonder why because they're *massively* more expensive than the high street or other online retailers (easily up to 30% more in many cases.) But she reckons they have good bargains in their sale leaflets and she also comments on the fact they don't quibble within the 12 month period.
