Advantages: Actually sell clothes for women who are more than 5'8 tall.

Disadvantages: Restricted range, High prices, Intimidating boutique style stores

Long Tall Sally, the specialists in clothes for tall women, have had a branch in my parents hometown for several years, but it was always a huge effort to take a trip down during shop hours, so I was very pleased to discover their website.

While so many stores have special lines for 'petite's, very few do anything for women over about 5'7 or so, so LTS is something of a godsend. The website seems to offer a fuller range than the shop I used to occasionally visit - which isn't really saying a great deal. LTS focus on classic styles on the whole, which can get quite dull, and the more fashionable ranges will only be offered in one or two colours - so when this seasons trendy colours don't suit you, you're stuck. At least the site gives you a full range to choose from. Sizing runs from 10 to 20, and is pretty consistent, which makes me more confident about ordering online.

The site itself has a nice clear layout, and is easy to navigate, although it does bug that you can't click on the feature outfit they have on the front page, but have to deduce whether it's work wear or casual etc. Customer service is strong (they are an established mail order store) , shipping is prompt, and they show approximate prices in dollars and euro's which I think is a nice touch. My only grinch is that you cannot, apparently, return items ordered online to a bricks and mortar store, which seeing as they recommend recorded delivery, could get expensive. Mind you, the bricks and mortor stores ar fairly few and far between, and don't seem to make a lot of effort to be open when I wnat them to be, so no great loss there. The mail order catalogue is also clearly illustrated, and the call centre staff more helpfull than you might expect.

They bill themselves as 'affordable clothes for all tall women' which I'd have to argue with - I'd say their price range is at the upper end of the high street, and the range o
f styles is fairly limited. On the other hand, the pleasure of having a few skirts and dresses that are really long enough cannot be underestimated, and this is the best site I've found for taller women's clothes. I'm still searching for soewhere that really does offer affordable clothes for tall folks - and in the mean time, I'm learning to sew!
