Advantages: lots of weird and wonderful products

Disadvantages: shop is always packed and it expensive

I was introduced to Lush by a friend of mine about a year or so ago. She gave me a little sample of the soap 'Honey I shrunk the kid'. I kept this in my coat pocket for months and would get it out whenever I was bored so I could sniff the thing.

I wouldn't say I was a Lush addict, I find the products are a bit 'hit or miss' with me. I either really love them or just don't get on with them at all.

To me entering a Lush shop is just like entering a sweet shop. There are so many colours and odd looking things that look good enough to eat. I just find that I want o touch and pick up everything. The smell is amazing and depending on which part of the shop you stand in will depend on which aroma will tickle your nose next. There are always friendly staff on hand to help you decide what to buy and they are very happy to give you a sample of the product you are interested in or actually use a product on yourself so you can see if you like it.
The only downside of the Lush shop in our area is it's so small and every time I think about going in there I decide not to because it's absolutely ram packed and you can barely get through the door.

All of the Lush products are fresh handmade which are as natural as can be. There is no added 'nasties' like in most cosmetic things. This makes them ideal to use in pregnancy which is great for me because I've been pregnant a lot lately! They each have a sticker on the tub or product telling you exactly when it was made, who it was made by and when the product expires.

The products range from things like exfoliators to cleansers from bubble bars to bath bombs and from hand cream to shampoo bars. Every body care thing you can think of will probably be in the Lush shop.

They also do lots of gift boxes that are themed and if you don't think any of these are right for the person you are buying for then you can choose what you want and someone will gift wrap it for you.

The products come without hardly any packaging to save on the environment and those that do need a pot or tub are recyclable. At the moment if you collect five black tubs and return them to a Lush shop then they will give you a free fresh face mask which is a great incentive. They also encourage you to reuse the yellow bags some of the products come in by putting them in your drawers to make them smell nice.

I do find it quite expensive for the amounts you get but I'm not the type of girl that will pay over the odds for anything. I'm not really into skin care products in a big way either so maybe it's not that expensive.

The shops tend to have a huge sale once a year where you can pick up lovely Lush products for bargain prices. I think it is on Boxing day. My friend goes every year and gets some amazing gift boxes for dirt cheap prices but I think you have to be patient to do this because they get even more crammed with Lush addict people who are looking for a bargain!

Over all I would give Lush a big thumbs up. I like their values, ethics and products and think that anyone who is 'green' would like them too.

Summary: A great shop and great for gifts
