Advantages: Great products, natural, good for you.
Disadvantages: Pushy assistants.
Lush has a growing number of stores across the UK, and they even have a number of stores across Europe and the USA now. Lush is a company that markets itself on selling "Fresh handmade cosmetics" and as being 100% against animal testing. The company began as a mail order company named 'Cosmetics to Go' in Poole, Dorset. Having gone bust due to a huge computer failure, the high street 'factory' still exists today as part of Lush's Poole store, and is the place where most of the product development takes place.
Lush stores are usually quite small, but they have a plethora of products crammed in! Lush sells all kinds of cosmetics, from Bath ballistics, shower gels, shampoos and skin care products that are all hand made (yes, really, I've seen them making it!) from the highest quality, natural ingredients. Where synthetic ingredients are used they are only of the safest kind.
The essential oils used in Lush products are incredibly high quality, and the combinations used are not there purely to smell good, but to have an effect on you as you bathe, wash or moisturise. There are products to perk you up, products to help you relax and products to aid sleep!
The shopping experience in Lush can sometimes be testing. On a quiet day you are likely to be harassed by staff every thirty seconds, which is great if you NEED help, but if you don't it's obvious that they're simply trying to sell you more than you need, or want as their wages get higher based on sales targets. However, if you DO need help, the staff are BRILLIANT. Most are highly knowledgeable about every single product in the store, and if they aren't sure there'll be somebody else who knows. They can find exactly what you're looking for, and if you aren't sure they will give you a small sample to try if it's possible (this is usually more the case with the skin and haircare products).
The products are expensive, with the average bath ballistic being around £3, and haircare ranging from £3 up to £10, but in the end you only get one body, so the products are worth using. The bath ballistics and such are a great gift or treat, but the skincare is incredible and very effective. If you have troublesome skin, Lush is the place to visit, and it'll probably cost you less than things prescribed by a dermotologist.
Lush is a great shopping experience, however if you don't want to buy something be adamant with the sales assistant and they'll soon leave you alone.
Summary: Lush sells great products and is awesome for gifts and luxury treats.
