Advantages: Helpful staff, try out some of the products...

Disadvantages: A bit pricey

Lush is a shop for wonderful beauty products - they are all handmade and use fresh and often organic products. They have all kinds of products from skincare to haircare to just pure indulgent bath treats (My favourite!). They have stores nationwide in most major cities. For those people don't have one - they do have an online website where you can order their products and I would highly recommend this as well but as there is nothing like experience actually going into a shop I thought I would review that.

This week I visited the Bristol store but have been to several other ones and I always enjoy the experience - just be careful as it is so tempting to buy a lot of nice things! It is so much better to go into a shop itself - the aroma hits you as soon as you enter - a mixture of sweet and musky at the same time - I know some people can find it a bit over-powering but I love it. They have samples everywhere so you can feel, smell and try out the products there and then - and the sales people will encourage you to do so. Some products smell good enough to eat, especially the chocolate based ones but I wouldn't recommend that!

In the past I have always just bought the bath ballistics and bath melts. All the ones I have tried have been amazing - my favourite is the Creamy Candy bath and always a must buy - a bubble bar which smells of almonds, vanilla and cocoa butter; a pure pink girly treat.

This time however I spent a long time trying out the samples and am also trying out some shampoos and the massage bars. I have to say that the Wiccy Magic Muscle Bar was a big hit with my boyfriend and his bad back!

I was also very impressed with the sales staff (and yes I know their job is to sell you things!) but they were so helpful and friendly. I went with my mum and we bought said smells and different things we liked and they recommended us both different products we (and our partners) would like. He also gave me lots of time talking through my troublesome frizzy / curly hair and suggested several products for that. He also gave me some free samples to try out at home to see if he was right and it would help before I bought the whole shop out! So it is worth talking to them and asking their advice - they do know what they are talking about and if you are genuinely interested you may find they also gave you some free samples to try.

So not only was the shopping experience very pleasurable the resulting baths and using the products are even better. Some of the products may be a little pricey but to be honest, it is worth it and we all deserve treats every now and then!

Summary: Treat Yourself!

I'm with Plipplop... Deep Breath in, dive into the shop, choose something for the girlfiend, pay, 'no, I don't need a carrier bag thanks', dive back out, fresh air again. Mission accomplished.

The smell when you walk past these places is so overpowering - I can't bear it.
