Advantages: Delicious fragrances, good selection of products

Disadvantages: Pricey

Lush is a shop that sells lovely smelly, fruity, girly beauty products -everything a girl needs in her bathroom to pamper and beautify herself with...soaps, body butters, massage oils, shampoos, shower gels, bath products, face packs, cleansers and gift sets. All of the cosmetics are hand-made and gorgeous!

All girls (and some guys!) like beauty and bath products and Lush is the place to go for something special. Of course the market is saturated with shops selling similar items- Boots, Body Care, Body Shop to name a few but Lush products have a great reputation, helpful staff everytime I've been in there and some marked advantages I'll detail below.

You can rest assured its all ethical as Lush are against animal testing. All of their products are made from natural ingredients and all of the soaps are either vegetarian or vegan. I personally think its great to have such an ethical company. I used to feel the same way about the Body Shop but the difference here is that all of Lush's products are FRESH and handmade and I think its this personal approach that makes their stuff so appealing to shoppers.

Luxury items are available too as well as gifts and whenever my friends receive a Lush item as a gift they really do feel special and pleased. The aromas of the different products are fantastic and I would recommend a stroll in there just to pick up and smell the lovely products. Another dooyoo'er commented on the price aspect of Lush and I totally agree. It IS expensive and in these credit crunch times I cant go and get any more lovely things to spoil myself with! But at the same time I think it's a shame- to be ethical we have to be prepared to be overcharged...there's something wrong with the concept that to be ethical you have to lose out. Most people would pass on Lush and go for a cheaper alternative. Now if we could only find an ethical company with equally gorgeous products! There is the dd thing for under a fiver so that's not too bad- although some people would say £5 for a bar of soap is far too much!

My favourite product is the Choco La La massage bar which you need to warm in your hands. It combines chocolate and orange (I love that combination!) and costs around £2.55. You can use this more than once and I would say average number of uses is 6 times so not bad value if you look at it that way!

The final thing I can tell you about the products is that you should sniff as much as possible before you buy! MOST pproducts smell divine but I have encountered the odd one that has made my toes curl! A lot of the scents are subtle but most are delicious- you can smell the freshness and these products look lovely in my bathroom- I feel proud when guests come round as Lush really does say quality.

Summary: Lovely especially for gifts
