Macy'sNewest Review: ... window displays as they were all done up for Christmas and it was something I have never seen in the UK as they go all out to impress everyone who walks past with meachanical toys that move around. On entering Macy's you actually get a feel of how big it is as it's really wide and you cant even see the end of it! Macy's is almost set in two buildings, Broadway side and Seventh Avenue, and ... more |

Going to New York you have to spend at least some time shopping, and for us it had to be going to Macy's on 34th Street after all it's the one department store everyone knows! Arriving outside and the well known sign is outside saying Macy's and believe across the top (as miricale on 34th st is set in Macy's and it was chirstmas time we were there). It was awesome to look at the window displays as they were all done up for Christmas and it was something I have never seen in the UK as they go all out to impress everyone who walks past with meachanical toys that move around. macys is a pretty awesome store and is apparently the biggest department store in the world. located in midtown manhattan it is a great place to spend half a day in if you happen to be in new york on holiday and fancy a bit of shopping. be sure to pick up a store map when you arrive because there are so many floors that its very easy to get lost! and if you are with other people then arrange a good place to meet up because with all the things to look at, you will want to split up and do your own thing. if macys were in the UK it would be like selfridges, with similar prices. so with the exchange rate its a great place to shop if you want some designer gear. there ... No trip to New York would be complete without a visit to the famous Macy's department store. Macy's takes up the whole block between 7th Ave and Broadway. Given it's proximity to hotel I was staying in it was always going to be paid at least one visit during my time in New York. The store on West 34th Street is the companies flag ship store. Macy's has 200 other stores around the USA. Macy's was founded by Rowland Macy in October 1857, from the humble beginnings of a storefront in the lower regions of Manhattan it has now become a worldwide department store, famed for it's" Thanksgiving Parade" which was first started in the ... Macy’s claims to be the biggest department store in the world, well I can believe that its ENOURMOUS. It takes up a whole block and it has many entrances so you can get lost very easily. I don’t know how many floors there are exactly, I think its 9 – at least that’s how far I ended up going. Macy’s has everything, a few floors for men’s clothes; loads of floors dedicated to women’s clothes they even have a floor with pianos. When walking through Macy’s first floor people selling you all these different fragrances and stuffing testers up your nose bombard you. Prices are reasonable but not the cheapest, jeans ... Macy’s is the largest department store in the world and after only a few minutes walking around then you realise why. The store is centrally located near to the Empire State building and carries a massive range of stock. The down side is that it is just too long to find a specific item, I had a list of items I wanted but found myself walking miles to find the stuff I wanted to buy. Really it was just a regular store scaled up rather than a bigger store stocking a bigger range. The clearance rails are doubled in size though making bargain easy to pick up, and hey who could go to NYC and not go into the biggest department store in the world? ... Read the complete review
