Every month, the 'Makro mail' is published which is a catalogue of so called 'bargains', offering cut-price items while stocks last. This comes in two sections, the standard 'Mail', which generally gives a selection from a cross-section of all the items available to purchase, and the 'Makro mail food' which again, tries to vary what is ... more |

Makro is a Cash and Carry store, designed at bulk selling items to small shops and restaurants, as well as any small business or self-employed person. It is an application only shop, access only by membership card, however, these are obtainable by any owner of a small business or certain employees of. The products sold are of all types, specialising in food stuffs (and of course large proportions) but they also sell lighting, work tools, clothes, DVD's, Jewellry, etc... making it a great place to shop. My experiences of Makro are limited to the store in Sheffield, although I'll try to make my review about Makro as a whole. I find Makro to be a fairly strange shop and one which I'm not so sure whether I actually like or not. On the one hand they sell a massive range of items from tins of beans to HD TV sets, but on the downside you have to be a business to shop there (entry is only via a membership card scheme) and once you work them out, some of the prices aren't actually that great. I say "once you work the prices out" as Makro is aimed at business people and thus the prices on display don't include VAT. So whilst £599 for a 42-inch ... Read the complete review

I used to look forward to going to Makro for the occasional 'stock up' trip but, quite frankly, the amount of time it takes to drive there, do the shopping & then queue makes me think twice. My husband has a Makro card for his business & when our daughters were young we'd sometimes go & shop together as I could get the food & household products whilst our daughters bought stationary, toys & clothes & hubby could buy what he needed for the business plus add to his growing collection of boots! You have to watch the prices as the VAT isn't displayed & sometimes it's cheaper to buy loo rolls, handwash, soap, stationary etc at ... Read the complete review

Makro Sheffield Makro is pretty handy for a million and one things and I like to go there once every month or two to make the best of the deals on offer. It's a warehouse stockists for businesses, so you have to be registered as a business or as an employee of a business to use it and get a membership card. We get the Makro mail, a printed catalogue with the latest deals, so I keep abreast of the good deals most of the time. We especially like nappies in bulk buy with buy one get one half price offers, washing tablets at half RRP and fabric conditioner at a third of the prices paid in supermarkets. It can be really good at Easter if you buy a lot ... Read the complete review

I first began visiting Makro just over 3 years ago, when I started a new job. All employees were able to apply for a Makro card. I wasn't over eager on getting a card - I had never been to Makro although as it was quite close to where I lived, passed it many times a week. However, a card was ordered for me anyway. I didn't use the card for a few months until a 'Makro Mail' appeared on my desk at work. The Makro Mail is a magazine sent out by Makro roughly every 2 weeks, packed with special offers on clothes, food, electrical items and more. This magazine caught my eye and managed to entice me to visit that evening with my boyfriend. --Who are ... Read the complete review
