Maplins electronics not the camp (Maplin)

Advantages: all electronics in one store, good prices

Disadvantages: you could go in for one thing and come out starting a whole new hobby

For those older dooyooers like my Mum that thought that Maplins was something to do with that holiday camp hi di hi I apologise for the disappointment as this is about Maplin electronics.

Maplins has over 100 stores nationwide and I think they used to be called Tandy.

If you want anything electronic at all this is definately the store to go to.

The shop is very well set out and although the ailes are not cluttered there are baskets with bargains galore in them.

I would say for the children they have a very good range of Radio Controlled cars but every time I have gone in I have noticed that it is the Dads playing with them with the child looking on longing to have a go!

On entering the store you will be given the Months pamphlet of cheap items. They do do a catalogue (like the Argos one) but the price is £3.99 and I havent bought it so cannot comment on it. My idea being I think like Argos again it should be free after all we are the customers.

If you want anything electrical you will find it here. If you want to build a computer you will find that they do have every component that is required or if you just want to upgrade it. They have a lot of offers if you wish to buy two parts or bundles of items.

Our local maplin is next to PC World and maplins say if you can get it cheaper than them they will refund the difference. I have of course been to see if this is correct but cannot find any item in PCWorld cheaper than maplins. I have though found things like mikes and mice identicle in both shops but nearly half the price in maplins.

Maplins have a good selection of tools. from tools for computers to power tools.

I also found that this is the cheapest place to buy batteries of any kind.

At the moment they have water lighting and fogging effects where you can save up to 40%

Lastly dont forget car entertainment. This is definately the place to go for this. From car speakers to MP3 players for the car. Most half price at the moment.

What I like most is that there is not a do not touch notice in sight, the staff are good and dont keep coming up to you asking if they can help but they are there if you want help.

All in all a shop not to be missed.
